What is the flat world?
The world is flat is a run-away best seller by Tom Friedman. The book tells the story that enabled by technology, the falling of political barriers and the flow of information the playing field is no longer skewed to the America or the so called first world. In the flat world, value is being created everywhere and get integrated by people and companies with a clear eye for progress and speed. Evey one can play, but you have to be open-mined, creative, innovative and be globally aware.
However in the flat world, you have to accept that work can be done any where by anyone. Work goes to where the talent is and the most cost-effective solutions. Nowhere is this more clear in the manufacturing sector, where China in no more than ten years has emerged to become the manufacture for the world and India bas become the emerging IT power.
And in the flat world, a big company must play small meaning agile and a small company can play big meaning it can do business globally.
